Brown Film Magazine Possession Spreads
I chose to work on the movie Possession (1981) for Brown Film Magazine’s Fall Issue. The article I designed with highlighted the devestating break in the couple’s relationship and I chose to emphasis this through experimental typesetting which mirrors the figure’s bodies. The designers were encouraged to typset experimentally and I enjoyed creating these floating and twisting compositions.

The film has incredibly beautiful images and I wanted to highlight these through my spreads. An issue that I encountered while working with the images was the inherently low quality images from the older movie. I used a halftone grain and duotone with colors pulled from the original film stills to hide the low quality images while still allowing for full bleed spreads.
